PDP Chieftain Calls for Akpabio to Directly Address Sexual Harassment Claims

Mohammed Abdullahi, a prominent chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Adamawa, has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to directly confront the sexual harassment allegations brought against him. Abdullahi criticized Akpabio for relying on what he described as “image launderers” to deflect from the serious accusations raised by Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, the senator representing Kogi Central.

Abdullahi specifically condemned Sandra Duru, also known as Professor Mgbake, who recently claimed that Akpoti-Uduaghan lacked evidence to support the allegations against Akpabio. According to Abdullahi, Duru’s inconsistent statements and actions made her an unreliable source. He stated, “Rather than defend himself with honour, Akpabio has chosen to hide behind people whose public records are smeared with controversy and criminal allegations.”

Abdullahi emphasized that the issue of sexual harassment should not be reduced to a media spectacle. He called on Akpabio to respond to the allegations with facts, stressing that no one, regardless of their position, should be exempt from scrutiny or accountability.

This development follows the suspension of Akpoti-Uduaghan by the Senate on March 6, following a dispute over seating arrangements with Akpabio. On Sunday, Akpoti-Uduaghan posted a satirical apology letter on Facebook, expressing “deepest sarcasm and utmost theatrical regret” for maintaining her dignity and self-respect in Akpabio’s presence.
