Pakistan’s military announced Friday that it had intercepted and killed a group of militants attempting to cross into the country from Afghanistan overnight, describing them as “Indian-sponsored.”

In a statement from the army’s public relations wing, officials said the fighters were targeted with “precise” fire during the operation, which also resulted in the seizure of weapons, ammunition, and explosives.

Pakistan and India—both nuclear-armed rivals with a long history of conflict—routinely accuse each other of aiding or sheltering insurgents. Islamabad has frequently alleged that New Delhi supports militant activities inside Pakistan, claims India firmly denies.

The incident comes amid sustained tensions between the two countries, with security forces on both sides keeping strict watch along their borders.
