Ademola Adeleke, the present state governor, ordered the reversal of appointments made by the previous administration to the civil service on Monday.
According to Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, the reversal of the appointments is in accordance with the executive order signed on Monday.
Between mid-July and November, approximately 3,000 new teachers were recruited into various public primary schools across the state. In addition, 1,500 teachers were said to have been hired for secondary schools across the state.
Between July and November, the State Hospital Management Development Board reportedly employed over 1,000 workers.
In addition, 61 freelancers who had previously worked for Osun State Broadcasting Corporation were reportedly absorbed into the station’s full-time staff.
However, the reversal of the appointments may affect thousands of workers recruited into the civil service by Oyetola.
In a chat with The Punch, Oyetola’s media aide, Ismail Omipidan, dismissed as false reports that his principal employed 12,000 workers in the civil service.
He challenged the government to publish the list of the purported workers, stating that the entire workforce of the state is not even up to the said number.
