Osun 2026: Oyebamiji Wins APC Governorship Nod Unanimously

The immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Bola Oyebamiji, has been unanimously affirmed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Osun State in the 2026 election.

Oyebamiji’s emergence followed the party’s primary election on Saturday in Osogbo, the state capital, where all 1,660 delegates endorsed his candidacy. He was nominated by governorship aspirant Kunle Adegoke, SAN, and seconded by Senator Babajide Omoworare.

After the nominations, the Chairman of the primary election committee, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, called for a voice vote, resulting in unanimous affirmation.
“By the power conferred on me as Chairman of the primary committee, I hereby declare Bola Oyebamiji, AMBO, as the candidate of our party,” Okpebholo announced.

President Bola Tinubu congratulated Oyebamiji, commending the Osun APC for the “unity and spirit of reconciliation” that marked the primary election. In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President also praised aspirants who stepped down gracefully, demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the party’s ideals.

Tinubu urged Oyebamiji to embrace inclusivity, welcoming all party leaders and former aspirants to ensure cohesion as APC prepares for the 2026 governorship contest.
“The journey to reclaim Osun State for the progressive fold has begun. I urge all members and leaders of APC in the state to remain focused, united, and resolute. Victory is achievable, and together, we will succeed,” the statement added.

Oyebamiji’s unanimous affirmation underscores a rare display of unity within the Osun APC, setting the stage for a consolidated campaign ahead of the 2026 elections.
