Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has declared his resolve to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) takes control of Abia State in the 2027 general elections.

Kalu made the declaration at Ekoli in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State during his annual New Year visit to the Chairman of the APC in Ebonyi, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha.

The former Abia State governor said he would deploy all available political resources to wrest power from the ruling Labour Party in the state, pledging unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC governorship candidate.

“I will support President Bola Tinubu and the APC gubernatorial candidate in the elections. I will put my heart on the field to ensure that the APC wins a landslide victory in Abia,” Kalu said.

While describing the incumbent Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Oti, as his friend, Kalu stressed that personal relationships would not stand in the way of his political objective, insisting that his priority was total victory for the APC in the state.

The senator also urged governors across the country to take greater responsibility for security in their states instead of relying solely on the President.

“There were no cases of kidnapping and other crimes in Abia at a time when other states were grappling with heightened insecurity,” he said, calling on governors to emulate Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, whom he praised for maintaining peace and security in the state.

Kalu explained that his annual New Year visit to the Ebonyi APC chairman was based on long-standing loyalty and trust.

“He is an embodiment of loyalty and someone you can trust with your life. I raised him as a child, even when his father was alive, and he was part of the success stories I recorded as governor,” Kalu said.

He added that when he introduced Okoro-Emegha to former Ebonyi State Governor, Senator David Umahi, he advised him to remain completely loyal—a quality he said has continued under the current administration of Governor Nwifuru.
