Ondo State Governor Increases Minimum Wage to ₦73,000

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the November 16 governorship election, has announced a new minimum wage of N73,000 for civil servants in the state. This comes after the federal government and organized labor agreed on a new minimum wage of N70,000 in September.

Aiyedatiwa, accompanied by his deputy Chief Olayide Adelami, made the announcement during the APC flag-off campaign in Ondo West Local Government Area. He emphasized that his administration, which took office 10 months ago after the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has been committed to improving the welfare of civil servants through regular salary payments, training opportunities, and promotions.

Highlighting his achievements, Aiyedatiwa mentioned infrastructural projects like rural road construction, the renovation of schools, security enhancements through the Amotekun corps, and improvements in healthcare to curb the “japa” syndrome. He also pointed out efforts in youth empowerment and sports development, such as the renovation of the Akure sports stadium.

With the election approaching, Aiyedatiwa urged the people to vote for APC, assuring them that his administration would continue to advance development in the state. The APC chairman, Ade Adetimehin, expressed confidence that Aiyedatiwa would win by a landslide, aiming for 80% of the votes.
