President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on his victory in the Ondo State governorship election, commending the peaceful conduct of the electoral process.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu acknowledged the maturity displayed by candidates from all 17 political parties during the campaigns and the election. He credited the success of the polls to the civility shown across the state.
The President encouraged any dissatisfied candidates to seek redress through the judicial system. “Those dissatisfied with the outcome of the election can explore the opportunities provided by the judicial system to seek redress on areas of conflict,” the statement read.
President Tinubu also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for effectively managing the electoral process. He highlighted that the election tested INEC’s capabilities, and the commission met expectations with early preparations, timely deployment of materials, and the efficient management of the process, including uploading over 98% of results on the same day.
He expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Police Force, National Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, National Youth Service Corps, the military, and other security agencies for their professionalism in maintaining peace and order during the election. Governor Aiyedatiwa’s landslide victory, securing all 18 local government areas, ensures the APC’s continued control of Ondo State.
