Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has approved a training programme for permanent secretaries, principals-general, general managers, and other senior management officers in the state.
In a statement on Saturday, Kehinde Onasanya, the state’s head of civil service, said the training will be held at the Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies (OSKASOGS) at Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye. The institution is managed by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.
Onasanya noted that the governor, during a meeting with Sola Adeyanju, the school’s director, described NIPSS as the premier think tank and capacity-building institution for top decision-makers in Nigeria.
Abiodun expressed gratitude to the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, for establishing OSKASOGS and praised the federal government for approving its takeover by NIPSS.
“The governor has declared that the School for Governance Studies is not only a blessing to Ogun State but to the entire South-West and the country,” Onasanya stated.
He added that the training, set to begin in the second week of April, aligns with the governor’s commitment to enhancing civil service capacity. Civil servants on Grade Levels 13-17 will undergo structured training designed by NIPSS-OSKASOGS.
Sola Adeyanju, the director of OSKASOGS, lauded Abiodun’s vision, emphasizing that NIPSS’s presence in Ogun State marks a significant milestone in governance training.
