NSCDC Emphasizes Inter-Agency Collaboration, Key to Tackling Insecurity

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reaffirmed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing security challenges nationwide.

Speaking on Tuesday during a visit by the Lagos management team of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Lagos State Commandant Mr. Adedotun Keshinro emphasized that working closely with sister security agencies, stakeholders, and civilians has enhanced the corps’ operations in Lagos.

Keshinro disclosed that the NSCDC is partnering with the German political foundation, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, to provide security training across five geopolitical zones, excluding the South West. However, he confirmed that approval has been granted to extend the training to the South West, with implementation set to begin soon.

He also highlighted the role of traditional institutions, religious leaders, youth, and women’s groups in fostering security cooperation, stressing that effective conflict resolution is crucial to preventing disputes from escalating.

“None of us is as good as all of us put together. There might be some minor clashes, but people are trained on conflict resolution to ensure issues do not escalate,” Keshinro stated.

In response, Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, Head of NAN Lagos Office, commended the NSCDC’s smooth operations in Lagos and praised its longstanding partnership with NAN. He encouraged both organizations to strengthen their relationship to ensure Nigerians receive accurate information on security matters.

“When you talk to NAN, you have talked to the entire country,” Ajayi noted.
