The 19 Northern State Governors are scheduled to meet on Saturday, November 29, in Kaduna to tackle the region’s escalating security challenges and adopt a coordinated response.
Peter Ahemba, Senior Special Assistant to the Nasarawa State Governor on Public Affairs, confirmed the meeting in a phone interview with Daily Trust, noting that key traditional rulers from across the North will also attend.
“The meeting aims to develop a unified approach to tackling security concerns affecting the region and to discuss the way forward on security matters,” Ahemba said.
He added that the governors are expected to take decisive actions to stabilise the North amid rising insecurity.
“Given the security challenges in some northern states, the Nasarawa State government has proactively organised this emergency security meeting to make decisive decisions and prevent any breaches of security in the state,” he said.
Ahemba also urged the public to remain vigilant, encouraging residents to support security agencies by providing credible information on individuals with criminal tendencies.
