Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has revealed that the Niger State government is collaborating with the federal government to rehabilitate over 300,000 residents displaced by insecurity.
Speaking at a news conference in Minna, Bago said those affected come from 10 local government areas currently grappling with various security challenges. He noted that while statistics on insecurity often vary, the federal government is actively supporting mitigation efforts.
The governor highlighted that the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs has distributed palliatives to 1,000 vulnerable residents impacted by insecurity and natural disasters, encouraging citizens to return home as security conditions improve.
Acknowledging ongoing challenges in water supply, electricity, and security, Bago assured that the state government is taking active steps to address these issues. He also cited ongoing infrastructure projects under the New Niger Agenda, including extensive road construction aimed at boosting development across the state.
