NDLEA operatives seized a consignment sent from Lagos to Abuja in the early hours of Friday, February 18, 2022, at the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where they foiled an attempt by a syndicate to steal at least N2.7 billion (equivalent to $4.7 million) from the Nigerian economy by putting fake currency into circulation.

According to NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, a controlled delivery of the parcelled counterfeit US dollars totaling $4,760,000.00 which led to the arrest of the main suspect, Abdulmumini Maikasuwa, 42.
