Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has urged striking workers in the state to return to work, assuring them that their concerns are being addressed. The governor emphasized his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers and all residents of the state.
Governor Sule stated that no worker would face victimization for participating in the strike. He also announced that the newly approved minimum wage of ₦70,500 would be implemented starting with December salaries. He added that negotiations on consequential adjustments for other worker categories were in advanced stages.
The governor made these remarks on Thursday during the inauguration of the remodeled office of Deputy Governor Emmanuel Akabe. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to paying salaries promptly.
Speaker of the Nasarawa State Assembly, Danlandi Jatoa, echoed the governor’s sentiments, appreciating the contributions of state workers. He appealed to the state’s chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to suspend the ongoing strike and engage in further negotiations.
