The proscribed group marched to the streets of Jerusalem, according to Naija News, to demand the unconditional release of their incarcerated leader.
IPOB activists were spotted calmly marching towards Jerusalem’s seat of authority, carrying both Biafran and Israeli flags.
Biafran agitators were seen in a viral video, asking the Israeli government for help in achieving the self-determination of the Eastern region.
They were heard chanting, “Free Nnamdi Kanu now!”, “Give us Biafra!”, “No more Nigeria!”, “Israel government, help us speak out” as they carried placards with inscriptions such as “Biafran Referendum now”, “IPOB, ESN is a peaceful movement”.
The protesters also bore placards containing pictures of young children who were victims of the Nigerian-Biafran war which ravaged the country years ago.
A man dressed as an Israeli government official approached the protesters to inquire about their mission.
One of the protesters explained that they had come to express their displeasure with their leader’s detention in Nigerian custody by the Department of State Services.
He claimed that the Nigerian government and security agents had killed too many Biafrans for no reason, and he demanded an end to the region’s insecurity.
Kanu had only asked for an end to instability in the South-East, but he was caught and had been jailed since June, according to a female protester, who added that the government and its officers intended to kill the IPOB leader.
