Manchester Utd Wins First Trophy In Six Years After Defeating Newcastle In Carabao Cup Final

Manchester Utd

Manchester United ends a six-year wait for major silverware by seeing off Newcastle 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday.

Since Jose Mourinho won Europa League for United in 2017, the red side of Machester has struggled to win a trophy, Ole Gunnar Solskjær was able to league them to the finals Europa League in the year 2021 but they were defeated by Villarreal. After sacking Solskjær and getting Ralf Rangnick a caretaker coach United decided to appoint Erik Ten Hag as the new head coach ahead of Mauricio Pochettino Antonio Conte who were available at that time.

Erik ten Hag has approved to be the right man for the job, to have got United over a winning line once more after six years of waiting. Manchester United has now won the Carabao Cup on six occasions with Erik Ten Hag becoming the first Dutch manager to win the League Cup. A potential quadruple remains on the cards, with the Red Devils, sat third in the Premier League table – eight points adrift of leaders Arsenal – while also making their way into the last 16 of the Europa League and fifth round of the FA Cup.
