Lagos Govt. Urges Residents To Obtain Permits Before Construction

The Lagos State Government has urged residents of the Agboyi, Ikosi/Ketu areas to first obtain state planning permits before starting any physical development or construction work.

Kehinde Osinaike, general manager of the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority, reportedly delivered this advise during a stakeholders’ forum for members of the Community Development Association and Community Development Councils in Ketu on Sunday, according to a statement.

He said, “Obtaining necessary permits before any construction work and adhering to the rules and regulations involved in building construction will bring about a safe and serene environment for residents. The procedure has been streamlined, and the agency will make sure that the processing and obtaining of building approval is ready within 10 working days without delay.

“Part of LASPPPA’s duties is to ensure that an individual or organisation embarking on erecting any structure gets a planning permit and follows the rules guiding building constructions. I must warn that anyone who fails to get the approval of relevant government agencies in charge of physical development will face the wrath of the law.”

In his response, the Chairman, CDA Magodo Phase I, Tangbaju Benson, urged the government to do more enlightenment programmes to keep the public informed of the necessary steps to take before embarking on building projects as it will regulate the activities of greedy developers.
