The Lagos State Government has officially announced the receipt of the toxicology test results for the late music sensation, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
The test results, crucial in determining the cause of the artist’s untimely demise, have been forwarded to the police for further investigation and action, according to state authorities.
Confirming the development, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated that the state had indeed received the test results and promptly handed them over to the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
The Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, Richard Somiari, on March 20, said during a coroner’s inquest into the singer’s death that the toxicology results would be available within three to four weeks.
Addressing the inquest, Somiari emphasized the importance of verifying and authenticating the cause of Mohbad’s death, stating, “We expected to get the first set of autopsy results in three to four weeks and re-confirm to authenticate the cause of death.”
Assuring the public of the security and integrity of the testing process, Somiari highlighted the stringent protocols in place for the handling and monitoring of samples.
“We have a place where items are stored for safety and security of results. There is a procedure for monitoring samples moved abroad,” he said.
Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, triggering widespread controversies and speculation on social media regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
The receipt of the toxicology test results marks a significant step forward in the ongoing investigation into the tragic loss of the talented musician.
