Kogi Court Removes Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Bars Him from Royal Duties

A Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has removed His Royal Majesty, Ahmed Muhammed Tajani Anaje, as the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, prohibiting him from carrying out any royal functions.

Delivering the ruling on Monday, Justice Salisu Umar ordered Anaje to stop presenting himself as the paramount ruler of Ebiraland.

The decision stemmed from a legal challenge filed by Dr. Barnabas Adeku Ojiah and two others against the Governor of Kogi State and Anaje. The petitioners questioned the legitimacy of Anaje’s appointment, citing procedural irregularities in the selection process.

Anaje was appointed in January 2024 by former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, but his selection has since been embroiled in controversy and legal disputes.
