Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, will today, July 7, officially inaugurate Enugu Air, a state-owned commercial airline established by the administration of Governor Peter Mbah.
The announcement was made on Sunday via an advertorial signed by Obi Ozor, Enugu State Commissioner for Transport.
Enugu Air is part of Governor Mbah’s broader vision to modernize the state’s transport infrastructure and position Enugu as a central aviation hub in Nigeria.
“Starting with an initial fleet of three Embraer E170 and E190 series aircraft selected for their efficiency, comfort, and adaptability to the regional market, Enugu Air is poised to establish a golden triangle with Enugu at its core,” the statement read.
The airline will initially serve domestic routes, connecting Enugu to Abuja and Lagos, with plans to expand to Port Harcourt, Owerri, Benin, and Kano in subsequent phases.
According to the state government, the initiative is designed to revolutionize regional air travel by emphasizing innovation, efficiency, and sustainability, while boosting economic growth and improving inter-city connectivity.
“We are inviting all Nigerians to join us on this bold and historic stride,” the statement concluded.
