Kaduna-Abuja Train Attack: Amaechi Denies Asking Nigerians To Donate Money To Cover Victims’ Medical Bills

Rotimi Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation, has denied asking Nigerians to donate money to the victims of the bandit terrorist attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train on Monday.

The Minister made the denial on Thursday in response to claims that he had requested Nigerians to donate money to cover the victims’ medical bills.

According to Amaechi, who also uploaded a video of what he said during his visit to the victims at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna on Wednesday, the Nigerian Railway Corporation would work with the hospital management to sort out the bills of those who were treated.

He disclosed that the military treated the victims without charging a dime, adding that some of the patients need drugs that are not produced in Nigeria and would be attended to by medical experts not working with the Nigerian Army.

He wrote: “We did not ask for contributions from Nigerians. I said @MinTransportNG & the FG are grateful to the Nigerian Army for providing free treatment for the injured, & that the Nigerian Railway Corporation would liaise with the hospital management to cover other expenses.”
