The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will present certificates of return to Ondo Governor-elect Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy following their victory in the state’s governorship election held on Saturday.
The presentation ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday at INEC’s headquarters in Abuja.
Rotimi Oyekanmi, Chief Press Secretary to the commission, confirmed the development, stating, “The certificates of return will be presented by the commission to the governor-elect and his deputy on Wednesday.”
Aiyedatiwa, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), secured a decisive win in the election, garnering 366,781 votes. He defeated Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 117,845 votes. The issuance of certificates of return is a statutory step confirming the winners of the election, allowing them to officially assume office.
