The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will begin distributing Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) in Edo State in preparation for the governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.
INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu announced the distribution plan during a meeting with State Resident Electoral Commissioners at the Commission’s Abuja headquarters. The distribution will start in all 192 wards across Edo State, where the last Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) was held. It will take place daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., starting Thursday.
From August 28 to September 8, 2024, PVC collection will commence at INEC’s 18 local government offices throughout the state during the same hours. Yakubu highlighted that information on the 210 collection centers (192 wards and 18 local government offices) is available on INEC’s website and social media platforms.
The register, listing 184,438 eligible voters, is also accessible on the INEC website [here](https://inecnigeria. org/?page_id=13804).
Yakubu stressed that PVCs must be collected in person by the registered voters to prevent misuse.
He urged voters to collect their PVCs promptly and engage actively in the upcoming election. The final voter register will be shared with participating political parties on Tuesday, August 20, 2024. While INEC is currently focused on Edo State, preparations for PVC collection in Ondo State, which has elections in November 2024, are underway, with detailed arrangements to be announced soon.
