The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has withdrawn the earlier invitation extended to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, over a recent incident involving the fatal stabbing of a palace guard.
Instead, the IGP has directed the Kano State Police Command to obtain the monarch’s statement within the state.
Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development, stating that the decision followed interventions from key stakeholders and was aimed at avoiding any political misinterpretation of the police’s actions.
Adejobi emphasized the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism and neutrality, noting that the institution would not allow its operations to be politicized or misunderstood.
