The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers, including a Deputy Inspector-General of Police and 17 Commissioners of Police, to strategic operational departments and state commands nationwide. The Nigeria Police Force described the move as part of efforts to enhance leadership, operational efficiency, and public safety across the country.
In a statement on Tuesday, Force Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Benjamin Hundeyin, said the redeployments aim to reinforce intelligence gathering, improve service delivery, and strengthen operational capacity.
Under the new postings:
- DIG Mohammed Usaini Gumel was assigned to head the Force Intelligence Department, centralizing intelligence coordination and analysis.
- At state commands:
o CP Aina Adesola → Delta State
o CP Umar Mohammed Hajedia → Kebbi State
o CP Iyamah Daniel Edobor → Bayelsa State
- Specialised units and formations:
o Osagie John Agans-Irabor → Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, FCID Lagos
o Johnson Ayodeji Babalola → Special Enquiries Bureau, FCID Abuja
o Adepegba K. Adetoye → Marine Unit, Force HQ Abuja
o Tabitha Bako and Umar Ali Fagge → Deputy Commandants, Police Colleges in Kaduna and Ikeja
o Audu Garba Bosso → General Investigation, FCID Kaduna
o Edwin Esiunnoh Ogbeghagha → Community Policing, Force HQ
o Arikpo Ofem Ikpi → Investment Office, Dept. of Logistics and Supply
o Cyril Uchenna Obiozo → Maritime Command, Lagos
o Samuel Yerima → Coordinator of Courses, Police Staff College, Jos
o Alhaji Mohammed Danlandi → X-Squad, FCID Kaduna

The IGP urged the redeployed officers to justify the confidence placed in them, drawing on their experience to deliver results while upholding professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards. He emphasised strict adherence to the rule of law in all duties.
The redeployment forms part of ongoing efforts to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for more effective crime prevention, intelligence-led policing, and improved public engagement.
