The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Benneth Igweh, along with the commissioners of police in Rivers and Delta States.
The announcement, made through a statement by the Force Spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in Abuja, emphasizes the IGP’s mission to reposition the Nigeria Police Force for enhanced effectiveness. “The posting of these strategic managers reflects the mission of the Inspector-General of Police to strategically reposition the Police Force and ensure maximum utilisation of human resources available to the Force,” Adejobi stated.
The newly assigned commissioners include CP Olatunji Disu as the new CP for FCT, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi for Rivers State, and CP Peter Opara for Delta State. In addition, the IGP, with the approval of the Police Service Commission, deployed four new CPs for Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom States. The new postings include CP Danladi Nda for Abia, CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale for Lagos, CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya for Ebonyi, and CP Festus Eribo for Akwa-Ibom.
IGP Egbetokun urged the new police commissioners to be diligent in their duties and adopt innovative approaches to address security challenges in their respective areas. He encouraged them to support ongoing police reform plans aimed at the overall growth and progress of the Nigeria Police Force and the country.
