Group Urges Oyetola to Contest 2026 Osun Governorship Election

As the 2026 Osun State governorship election approaches, the Ilerioluwa Progressive Support Group (IPSG) has called on the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, to re-contest for the governorship position.

At a press conference held at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office in Osogbo, the group’s Chairman, Dr. Adeyoola Adejare, and Secretary, Mr. Adekanmi Adelani, emphasized that Oyetola’s candidacy would foster unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and strengthen the party’s chances of victory.

“Oyetola’s prudence, financial expertise, transparency, and commitment to sustainable policies make him a strong contender,” said Adejare. He warned that Oyetola’s absence from the race could lead to internal disputes and fragmentation within the party.

Addressing concerns about the Osun West agenda, the group dismissed fears of uneven development, asserting that Oyetola has a track record of equitable growth across all senatorial districts.

“Oyetola’s leadership style ensures balanced development, devoid of regional bias. His calm and reflective personality, coupled with his ability to remain focused amidst provocations, makes him an ideal candidate,” Adelani added.

The group also praised Oyetola’s legacy of fiscal discipline, ambitious development projects, and commitment to public service, urging him to accept the call to serve once again in 2026.
