Governor Umo Eno Dissolves Cabinet, Seeks Fresh Expertise

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has dissolved his cabinet, citing the need to recruit new professionals to propel the state forward.

During a valedictory session at the exco chamber on Friday, Governor Eno praised the outgoing commissioners for their dedication and performance, emphasizing that the decision was not due to underperformance.

“If the change was based on non-performance, none of the commissioners would leave. All of you have delivered, and that’s why the Arise Agenda has succeeded. But we must come to the end of a season, start another season, and keep moving,” the governor stated.

A valedictory dinner honoring the outgoing executive council members was scheduled for Friday evening at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Uyo.

Many of the departing commissioners had served under former Governor Udom Emmanuel, with some holding their positions for nearly a decade. Sources suggest they were retained during the early phase of Governor Eno’s administration to acknowledge their contributions, particularly as they were not rewarded at the conclusion of the previous administration on May 29, 2023.

This cabinet overhaul signals a fresh chapter for Governor Eno’s administration as it aims to infuse new ideas and expertise into governance.
