Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed five members of his cabinet in a significant shake-up, though no official reason was provided for their removal. Sources, however, suggest the decision may be linked to underperformance over the past year.
The Secretary to the State Government (SGS), Architect Samuel Jatau, confirmed the development in a statement, saying, “The governor has relieved the following commissioners of their duties, effective immediately.” He also conveyed the governor’s appreciation for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
The affected commissioners include Chrysanthus Dawam (Budget and Economic Planning), Noel Nkup (Youth and Sports), Jamila Tukur (Tourism and Hospitality), Obed Goselle (Science and Technology), and Sule Musa (Commerce and Industry). Notably, both Dawam and Tukur had faced a three-month suspension last year for undisclosed reasons.
In their place, Governor Mutfwang has appointed Sunday Alex (Bassa LGA), Joyce Ramnap (Langtang South), Sylvanus Dongtoe (Shendam), Nicholas Baamlong (Qua’an Pam), and Cornelius Doeyok (Qua’an LGA) as new commissioners.
The reshuffle has stirred discussions in political circles, with analysts speculating on potential implications and further changes in the administration.
