Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has pledged swift action to address security concerns, particularly in Kwande and Ukum Local Government Areas.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, Alia urged protesters to remain calm, assuring them that his administration is working tirelessly to restore lasting peace.
Expressing concern over persistent attacks in Kwande and Ukum despite relative stability in other parts of the state, the governor vowed that the activities of assailants and their collaborators would soon end.
“I share your pains, and I assure you that we will step up our response. The remorseless barbarism of these assailants and their sponsors will soon be a thing of the past,” Alia stated.
He also sympathized with victims of recent attacks and called on security agencies to intensify efforts in protecting residents. Additionally, he warned individuals using his name to stir controversy in Kwande and other areas to desist, cautioning them about the consequences of their actions.
