Gov. Adeleke: I’m PDP, I’m Not Going Anywhere

Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, has dismissed fresh claims that he is planning to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stressing that he remains firmly committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor described the report as false and politically motivated, alleging that it was the handiwork of those unsettled by his growing popularity.

Adeleke recalled that similar rumours had recently linked him to the All Progressives Congress (APC), which he equally denied.

Reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, the governor said he would be seeking re-election in 2026 on the party’s platform, adding that the PDP in Osun is already mobilising to secure another victory at the polls.

“Our attention has been drawn to a report that Governor Ademola Adeleke is planning to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The report is not only untrue but a calculated attempt by those afraid of the governor’s soaring acceptability to create confusion and uncertainty in the minds of the people of Osun State,” the statement read.

It continued: “We want to reiterate for the umpteenth time that Governor Adeleke remains committed to the PDP and has no plan whatsoever to join the ADC or any party for that matter. Governor Adeleke’s preoccupation at the moment is the continued delivery of the dividends of democracy to Osun people, who resoundingly gave him their mandate three years ago.”
