The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has downplayed concerns about former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s recent visit to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, emphasizing that the APC remains focused on strengthening its foundation and advancing its political goals.
Speaking after leading a delegation of APC stakeholders to brief Buhari at his residence in Kaduna, Ganduje explained that the purpose of their visit was to update the former president on the party’s progress since his tenure and to reaffirm their commitment to his legacy. He stressed, “We are not worried at all. We came to pay our respects and update him on the achievements of our great party since his departure. We assured him that we would continue to keep him informed regularly.”
Addressing Atiku’s visit, which some speculated could signal a shift in political alliances, Ganduje dismissed the notion, stating, “That visit is of no concern to us. What they are trying to build is not viable. Some particles simply cannot come together.”
While he refrained from disclosing specific strategies, Ganduje expressed confidence that the APC, under President Bola Tinubu, is on a solid path to further solidify its position. He said, “We won’t disclose our intricacies, but we are equal to the task. The progress President Tinubu has made is strengthening the party even further.”
Ganduje also outlined the APC’s ambitions to expand beyond the 21 states it currently governs, noting that future elections or defections could add more states to its stronghold. “We are not resting on our oars,” he affirmed.
Regarding the distribution of federal appointments, Ganduje rejected criticisms, stating that they are being allocated fairly, and promised to present data to demonstrate equity in the process.
