Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has strongly denied any links to militant groups, warning against attempts to associate him with violence or sabotage.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, Fubara condemned the circulation of fake videos alleging attacks on pipelines, describing them as deliberate efforts to link his supporters to criminal activities.
“Governor Siminalayi Fubara has no link to any militant group, does not contemplate any such association, and has no reason to encourage any criminal elements to disrupt the peace or security of oil and gas facilities.”
The statement emphasized that communities in the affected areas had already refuted claims of explosions, confirming that all government assets remained safe and operational.
Fubara reiterated his commitment to peace, stressing that governance and development can only thrive in a stable environment.
“The governor has repeatedly stated that the peace of Rivers State is paramount to him, and he will do everything necessary to sustain it.”
He also warned bloggers and social media influencers against spreading false reports that could incite tension, urging security agencies to investigate and take action against those behind the misinformation.
