FRSC Ondo to Impound Trucks Carrying Passengers and Animals

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ondo State Command, has vowed to impound any articulated vehicle found transporting both passengers and animals within the state.

Speaking to journalists in Akure after a meeting with members of the Ondo State House of Assembly on Wednesday, State FRSC Sector Commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, stressed the need to curb irregularities involving articulated vehicles to enhance road safety.

“Enforcement is ongoing to address ‘mixed loading,’ which is the transportation of both humans and goods/animals,” Ibitoye stated.

He warned that any vehicle violating this rule would be impounded, and offenders would face sanctions.

“We are collaborating with stakeholders to caution drivers and ensure they desist from this act. When crashes occur, people assume only the driver and his motor boy are involved, but surprisingly, you’ll find over 10 people inside, along with cows,” he said.

The sector commander also sought the support of Speaker Olamide Oladiji and state lawmakers in promoting road safety, emphasizing that it is a shared responsibility.

“Everyone young and old, rich and poor must contribute to making our roads safer,” he added.

Ibitoye urged road users to exercise patience, avoid speeding, reckless driving, and overloading, while advising them to plan their journeys carefully and adhere to traffic rules to prevent accidents.
