Four Wildfires Blaze Across New Jersey, Fueled by Dry and Windy Conditions

Four brush fires continued to burn across New Jersey as of Friday morning, fueled by dry, windy weather with low humidity—ideal conditions for wildfires.

In Englewood Cliffs, a fire has been burning in Palisades Interstate Park along the cliffs near the Rockefeller Lookout since Thursday night. The northbound right lane of the Palisades Interstate Parkway is closed near exit 1 due to ongoing firefighting efforts.

Further south, three other wildfires are active. The Bethany Run wildfire in Burlington and Camden Counties has already burned over 300 acres. On Thursday night, flames and thick smoke were visible, and while the fire is only 50% contained, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service reported significant progress. Though 104 structures are at risk, no evacuations were ordered by Friday morning.

The Pheasant Run wildfire is also burning in the Glassboro Wildlife Management Area in Gloucester County. Additionally, the Shotgun wildfire in Jackson Township, Ocean County, has scorched 350 acres and is now 60% contained.
