Allen Weisselberg, a former longtime executive in Donald Trump’s real estate empire, is facing sentencing on Wednesday for lying under oath in the ex-president’s New York civil fraud case.
Expected to receive a five-month jail sentence, Weisselberg pleaded guilty last month to two counts of perjury. His admission included lying about his knowledge of how Trump’s Manhattan penthouse was valued on financial statements at nearly three times its actual size.
This marks Weisselberg’s second time behind bars. Previously, he served 100 days for tax evasion related to $1.7 million in company perks, including a rent-free Manhattan apartment and luxury cars.
Now, Weisselberg, 76, is returning to New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex, transitioning from retirement in Florida to another incarceration.
These cases underscore Weisselberg’s unwavering loyalty to Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.
Weisselberg served in Trump’s family business for nearly 50 years before receiving a $2 million severance package when tax charges led to his retirement. The company also continues to cover his legal expenses.
