The studio section of Radio Nigeria, located at Plot 35, Ikoyi Road, Lagos, was ravaged by fire on Wednesday. The blaze was swiftly contained by a combined team of the Federal Fire Service and the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.
Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, Margaret Adeseye, reported that the agency was alerted to the fire around 5:30 p.m. “Firefighters from Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba OniTunes Fire Stations were the first responders and arrived to find the fire well-alight due to the materials involved in the studio’s construction,” she said.
Adeseye informed the public that, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the fire services, Nigerian Police, and other emergency responders, the fire was confined to the studio section of the U-shaped, one-story building.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but Adeseye confirmed there were no reports of casualties. Efforts to extinguish the remaining embers continue.
