The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing insecurity across the country, urging regional and international partners to deepen collaboration in the collective fight against terrorism and related threats.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, gave the assurance in Abuja when a delegation of the Charismatic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), led by its President, Archbishop Leonard Kawas, paid him a courtesy visit.
Akume stated that the President Bola Tinubu administration is making concerted efforts to safeguard lives and property, noting that global partnerships are essential to defeating insurgents and other criminal elements.
“But the government is seriously committed to eradicating insecurity… We need support from our allies to be able to fight terrorists in the land,” he said, according to a statement issued on Friday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen.
The SGF appreciated the vote of confidence passed on the Tinubu administration by the religious leaders, describing it as recognition of the government’s ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity and other national challenges.
He added that the administration has been working closely with traditional rulers, business leaders, the private sector, political stakeholders, and religious groups to build a stronger and more resilient nation.
Akume urged religious bodies to continue to pray for Nigeria’s peace and prosperity.
