FG Seals Embattled PDP National Chairman Benue Property

Dr. Iyorchia Ayu
In Makurdi, Benue State, the embattled National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has reportedly had his property sealed off by the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA).
According to information obtained, Ayu’s property, which the federal government agency has sealed, can be located at Padre Pio Street, Judges Quarters (ext.).
The property was closed because, according to Guardian, the owners failed to provide the agency with pertinent documents pertaining to site plans on the property.
According to a source who explained why the property was sealed, “It is an academic institution.”
However, Simon Imobo-Tswam, the PDP Chairman’s special media and publicity adviser, denied being aware of any of his principal’s properties being sealed by a different organisation.
He promised to learn more and get back to them. Attempts to get more information on the development from Daniel Iormough, the state’s NESREA coordinator, were unsuccessful.
This comes after the Makurdi High Court, presided over by Justice Kpochi, postponed until April 28, 2023, the date on which the substantive lawsuit seeking to oust Ayu as the National Chairman of the PDP would be heard.
Justice Kpochi also withdrew from the case and announced he would return the case file to the Chief Judge of Benue State to reassign to another judge as he is embarking on a national assignment at the elections petitions tribunal.
Recall that Ayu was suspended by PDP executives at his Igyorov ward in Benue State’s Gboko Local Government Area after they gave him a vote of no confidence.
Ayu was restrained from parading himself as the PDP national chairman while the lawsuit was being heard and decided on March 27, 2023, based on an ex-parte motion filed by PDP member Conrad Utaan.
