The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, April 9th, and Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government in an official statement released on Sunday.
In the statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako, the minister extended congratulations to all Muslim faithful for the successful completion of the fasting period during the holy month of Ramadan.
He emphasized the importance of reflecting on the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, and compassion, which are exemplified by the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo called upon Nigerians, particularly the Muslim community, to embrace unity as a means to foster peace and solidarity across the nation. He emphasized the significance of collective efforts towards achieving national harmony and oneness.
As the country prepares to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, the Minister of Interior conveyed warm wishes to all Muslim faithful, urging them to observe the festivities in a spirit of joy and gratitude. He concluded by offering prayers for the peace, blessings, and favor of Allah to be bestowed upon every individual and the nation of Nigeria as a whole.
