The Federal Government has officially designated September 16 as National Enlightenment Day, a yearly event aimed at promoting Nigeria’s national symbols and values. The announcement was made by Kano State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Rabiu Ado, during a press conference on Thursday.
Ado highlighted that the initiative, approved by the Federal Executive Council in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and National Orientation, is part of a broader effort to instill value orientation across the country. As the custodian of national symbols, the NOA will standardize their use and ensure they are properly respected and displayed.
The campaign will focus on fostering national unity and pride by promoting proper handling of the national flag and anthem, as well as producing a standardized version of the anthem. The NOA plans to leverage modern communication tools to reach all age groups in its enlightenment efforts.
