Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Industries Limited, has revealed that the pricing of petrol from his newly launched refinery will be set by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). Speaking after a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, Dangote stated that the pricing strategy is currently under consideration by the FEC, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He mentioned that once discussions with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) are concluded, which could happen at any moment, the refinery is prepared to supply the market.
Dangote assured that the refinery’s petrol is of top-notch quality, capable of competing with global standards. The refinery, which started operations in January with the production of diesel and aviation fuel, is now gearing up to supply petrol. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has projected that the refinery will provide 25 million litres of petrol daily by September, with an increase to 30 million litres daily expected by October.
Final details on the petrol supply timeline will be announced after the ongoing discussions with the NNPC, with distribution potentially beginning within the next 48 hours.
