Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as the worst in Nigeria’s history in terms of corruption, dishonesty, and intolerance.
In an interview aired on Arise News, El-Rufai criticized the Federal Government’s claims of improved security, accusing it of spreading “false propaganda” while bandit leaders such as Dogo Gide, Mallam Abba, and Bello Turji continue to terrorize parts of Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto States.
“This is the worst federal government in Nigeria’s history,” El-Rufai said. “It is the most lying, most corrupt, and most intolerant government we’ve ever had.”
He challenged the government’s assertions of progress, asking:
“How many local governments are still under bandits’ control? The government keeps announcing improved security, yet the culprits are still at large.”
El-Rufai also lashed out at the administration’s economic performance, citing worsening inflation and reduced purchasing power.
“Can you still afford three square meals? There is nothing right with this government.”
While admitting he supported Tinubu during the 2023 elections, El-Rufai distanced himself from the current leadership.
“I supported the APC and President Tinubu, but I am not part of his government. My record is what I did in Kaduna.”
He further revealed plans to build a strong opposition through the revival of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stating:
“We will build SDP from the ground up. Even if we fail, let history show that we tried.”
On claims by APC loyalists that Tinubu cannot be unseated in 2027, El-Rufai offered a terse response:
“Silence is the best answer for people like that. If they think Nigerians will remain silent, they are mistaken.”
El-Rufai made these remarks while in Katsina to condole with Governor Dikko Umaru Radda over the loss of his mother. During the visit, he also met with SDP stakeholders to galvanize support for the party’s growth.
