To mark this year’s Eid-el-Fitr, the Nigerian federal government has declared Friday, April 21 and Monday, April 24 as public holidays for Muslims in the country to celebrate the end of Ramadan fasting.
The declaration was released on behalf of the Minister, Rauf Aregbesola, by Dr. Shuaib Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry, in a statement on Wednesday.
The Minister thanked all Muslims for observing the holy month of Ramadan successfully in the statement.
The Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) set an example for kindness, love, tolerance, peace, self-denial, sacrifice, and good neighborliness, which he urged them to emulate.
“The self-restrain, self-denial, sacrifice and deep spiritual consciousness that accompanied the fasting period should not end but be maintained and improved upon, in order to be a better person and true worshipper,” the Minister advised
Aregbesola said President Muhammadu Buhari is fully committed to the peaceful transition of government following successful elections.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing security for every citizen of the country as well as all foreigners in the country.
The Minister praised all security agencies for their accomplishments in the nationwide campaign against crime.
As security is everyone’s responsibility, he further urged Nigerians to contribute to the country’s security framework by being watchful and reporting any suspicious people or activities to the local law enforcement agencies.
He urged Nigerians to use the N-Alert app to report any suspicious activity and persons.
