Dodgers Pledge $1 Million to Support Immigrant Families Amid Ongoing Deportation Raids

The Los Angeles Dodgers have pledged $1 million in direct financial assistance to immigrant families impacted by recent immigration raids and deportations across Southern California, the team announced Wednesday.

Partnering with the City of Los Angeles, the team said the funds will be directed to individuals and households facing “critical need,” with more details on collaborations with local community and labor groups expected in the coming days. The initiative is part of a broader outreach effort by the Dodgers, a team with deep ties to the Latino community.

The move comes in response to a wave of arrests by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Los Angeles two weeks ago, which sparked widespread anxiety and calls for action from community members and Dodgers fans alike.

“What’s happening in Los Angeles has reverberated among thousands upon thousands of people, and we have heard the calls for us to take a leading role on behalf of those affected,” said Dodgers President and CEO Stan Kasten. “We believe that by committing resources and taking action, we will continue to support and uplift the communities of Greater Los Angeles.”

Although the team did not explicitly condemn the immigration enforcement operations, the announcement came the same day more than 50 community leaders, including labor unions, faith groups, and immigrant rights advocates, submitted a petition urging the Dodgers to denounce the federal crackdown.

Mayor Karen Bass applauded the Dodgers’ commitment, calling it a vital gesture of solidarity. “These last weeks have sent shockwaves of fear rippling through every neighborhood and have had a direct impact on our economy,” she said. “My message to all Angelenos is clear: We will stick together during this time and we will not turn our backs on one another — that’s what makes this the greatest city in the world.”

The team also revealed that it had denied federal agents access to Dodger Stadium’s parking lot in recent days. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security later confirmed that Customs and Border Protection vehicles had briefly used the facility but stated that the visit was unrelated to the Dodgers.
