Ahmed Dankabo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 presidential campaign council, says President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda is delivering visible dividends to Nigerians, with the northern region being the biggest beneficiary.
In a Democracy Day statement, Dankabo described Tinubu’s 2023 electoral victory as a defining moment for Nigeria, noting that the president’s bold leadership has set the country on a path of renewal and growth.
He said his early belief in Tinubu’s ability to transform Nigeria inspired his involvement in grassroots mobilisation and public advocacy during the campaign.
“I knew then that Nigeria needed a bold reformer, and I’m proud to have invested my time and energy in a cause that is now yielding visible dividends for all Nigerians,” he stated.
Dankabo commended the administration’s tough policy decisions, including the removal of petrol subsidies and unification of exchange rates, calling them critical steps to stabilise the economy and avert a fiscal crisis.
“But for President Tinubu’s bold and decisive leadership, Nigeria could have been on the brink of bankruptcy,” he said.
He highlighted a number of major infrastructure and policy initiatives that, according to him, are especially beneficial to the North. These include the Sokoto–Badagry and Calabar–Abuja superhighways, the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Highway, the Kaduna–Kano Standard Gauge Railway, and the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline project.
“These transformative legacy projects will open up vast areas of the North to investment, trade, and industrial development,” Dankabo said.
He also praised the administration’s push for local government autonomy, describing it as a move that will deepen grassroots democracy and improve service delivery at the community level.
On education, Dankabo listed several new federal institutions in the North — including universities of applied sciences, agriculture, and health sciences — as evidence of Tinubu’s strategic investment in knowledge development.
He lauded the newly created federal ministry of livestock development as a policy tailored to northern realities, saying it would empower herders, create jobs, and enhance food security.
In agriculture, Dankabo cited the dry-season farming initiative as a game-changer for northern states. “It is a targeted policy that speaks to the heart of the North’s comparative advantage,” he said.
He further applauded the establishment of the North West and North Central Development Commissions, noting their role in correcting historic regional imbalances and promoting inclusive development.
Dankabo claimed that Tinubu’s performance across critical sectors has already silenced the opposition. “President Tinubu has already outpaced his critics — defeating them even before the contest begins,” he said.
He urged northerners to remain united in support of Tinubu, especially ahead of the 2027 elections.
“In 2027, the north must once again rise in overwhelming support and vote massively for President Tinubu to continue this path of transformation,” he said.
