COVID-19: FG Issued New Criteria To Inbound Travelers

Following the United Kingdom’s relaxation of COVID-19 travel restrictions for fully vaccinated Nigerians, the Federal Government has issued new criteria to inbound travelers to Nigeria.
Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 said in a statement on Friday that fully vaccinated travelers entering Nigeria must present a negative test result, while the unvaccinated and partially vaccinated must isolate upon arrival.
“Travelers arriving in Nigeria must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained no more than 72 hours before boarding,” the statement reads.
“Unvaccinated and partially vaccinated in-bound passengers will be required to observe a mandatory 7-day self-isolation in addition to a COVID-19 PCR test on days 2 and 7 after arrival.
“Fully vaccinated in-bound passengers will not be required to observe the mandatory 7-days self-isolation but will be required to do a COVID-19 PCR test on day 2 of arrival.
The statement also imposes conditions on short-term visitors to Nigeria, noting that they must be completely vaccinated before being admitted, as well as revealing the rationale for the protocol review.
“Persons arriving on ‘Business’ trip or official duty staying less than 7 days in Nigeria must; be fully vaccinated; produce negative COVID-19 PCR result 72hours before boarding; and conduct a PCR test on day 2 of their arrival,” the statement added.
“It will be recalled that during the national briefing, PSC Chairman Boss Mustapha promised that a revised travel procedure will be issued.
“The protocol is being reviewed based on science national experience and global changes.”
