Wariz Oladeinde, one of the teenagers arrested in connection with the murder of Sofiat Okeowo in Abeokuta, has been released by an Ogun State magistrates’ court.
Recall how four teenagers were accused of murdering Sofiat, cutting off her skull, and burning it for money ritual.
Mustakeem Balogun and Soliu Majekodunmi, the deceased’s former and current lovers, were said to have killed her.
While speaking about the event, the teenagers revealed that Sofiat was killed for a money ritual, which they learned about on Facebook.
Oladeinde and Abdulgafar Lukman are two others who have been arrested in connection with Sofiat’s killing.
Oladeinde, who had been held at the Oba correctional facility in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government, was released by the Magistrate Court on Monday.
The Chief Magistrate I.O Abudu, in his ruling, noted that Oladeinde was discharged on the legal advice of the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
According to Abudu, “no charge was recorded against Oladeinde in the legal advice.”
Abudu further stated that he ruled based on a police investigation, which he said proved his innocence in the crime.
He adjourned the case till April 22 for further hearing of the charges against the remaining three boys.
