Oyebanji Filani, the State Commissioner for Health and Human Services, has debunked the rumor that some COVID-19 vaccines are spoilt due to the lack of electricity supply in the state. He denied this in a statement made available to reporters on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti.
Mr. Filani noted that the rumor making the rounds in some quarters on the vaccines being spoilt is not only false and unfounded yet additionally intended to misguide the overall population.
As indicated by him, the accessible COVID-19 immunizations were conveyed to the state in great condition.
“The immunizations are being put away in the State Cold Store following the suitable direction and necessities on antibody taking care of and capacity.
“The Moderna immunization is at present put away at a temperature of – 43.2-degree Celsius,” he said.
Mr. Filani unveiled that the state had “prepared, persuaded and conveyed 92 immunization groups, involving 582 people, to guarantee accurate movement and administration of vaccines”.

“During vaccination campaigns, vaccines are moved from the State Cold Store in Cold Chain Boxes to maintain the optimum temperature.

“As at (of) noon Thursday, the 16th of September, 2021, Ekiti State has exhausted her first dose of the Moderna vaccines with 47,839 persons vaccinated.
“This is in addition to over 70,000 persons who have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“The State vaccination wastage rate is currently the lowest in the country,” he said.
The Commissioner said information on the COVID-19 response in Ekiti State, including vaccination, could be obtained from the Ministry of Health and Human Services through the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Health.
He maintained that the health and safety of the good people of Ekiti “remains a top priority for the Dr. Kayode Fayemi administration”.
“We urge everybody to abstain from spreading unwarranted bits of hearsay that could make frenzy and doubt in the health system”.
“The accessible COVID-19 vaccine in Ekiti State are shown to be safe and effective in preventing severe illness from COVID-19 and we urge everybody to get inoculated,” Mr. Filani added.
