The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, confirmed on Tuesday that President Muhammadu Buhari will unveil the redesigned Naira notes on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
Emefiele made the announcement during a monthly meeting of the Central Bank’s Monetary Policy Committee in Abuja.
Recall that the CBN Governor announced in October that the apex bank would issue redesigned N200, N500, and N1,000 notes beginning December 15, 2022.
Emefiele, on the other hand, stated on Tuesday that the apex bank will no longer wait until December to unveil the new notes.
The deadline for returning old Naira notes to commercial banks in exchange for newly designed ones, according to Emefiele, will not be extended.
