After attending the African Union (AU) meeting in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to Abuja.
According to Naija News, Buhari and his wife, Aisha Buhari, as well as other government officials, returned to Nigeria on Saturday.
The Nigerian president was in Malabo for the African Union’s (AU) Extraordinary Assembly of Heads of State and Government.
The President addressed two African Union summits while in the country: the ‘Extraordinary Humanitarian Summit and Pledging Conference’ and the ‘Extraordinary Summit on Unconstitutional Changes of Government in Africa.’
During the summits, Buhari pledged $3 million to the African Union’s (AU) new humanitarian agency and approved the recommendation to establish an African standby force to combat terrorism.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Defence Maj-Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi (rtd), Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Sadiya Umar Farouq, National Security Adviser Maj-Gen Babagana Monguno (Rtd), Director-General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Amb. Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar and Chairman, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa were among the ministers who accompanied the president.
